Dry Skin/ Eczema

  • Dry skin is very common especially in temperate climates where heating sources are needed in colder months.

  • Limit baths to less than ten minutes if you have dry skin.

  • Do not bathe in very hot water.

  • Avoid fragrances if your skin is very dry or you are prone to eczema.

  • Choose a very thick moisturizer. (I like shea butter).

  • Moisturize at least twice daily.

  • The best time to moisturize is immediately after bathing.

  • If dry skin or eczema is severe, consider soaking the skin, then applying moisturizer then covering the skin immediately with cotton pajamas or wrap your feet in socks or even something like saran wrap! (Do not use saran wrap in babies or young children).

  • Invest in a humidifier for the bedroom.

  • Avoid formaldehyde in your personal care products.

  • After washing hands, immediately apply moisturizer.

  • Avoid tobacco!
